Inirv is a unique invention that replaces your existing stove knobs with smart ones. These knobs set timers for each burner to prevent overcooking or undercooking.
They also shut off the gas if they detect too much heat or smoke, which can be a lifesaver.
Inirv connects to your smartphone and offers step-by-step guides, so you don’t have to search online. It’s useful for both experienced chefs and beginners, making cooking safer and easier.
The entrepreneurs launched a Kickstarter campaign with a goal of $40,000 but raised $430,000. They’ve filed for several patents and received many preorders from the campaign.
During their pitch, they told the sharks they were refining their prototype and hadn’t started selling units yet, but they had hundreds of preorders.
Ranjith and Akshita are looking for $800,000 to help them overcome production challenges and bring this safety innovation to market.
Mark Cuban didn’t think people would buy it, so he went out first.
Kevin O’Leary thought their valuation was too high and didn’t see how he’d get his money back, so he was out, too.
Daymond John also didn’t see how he’d get his money back and went out.
Robert Herjavec offered $800,000 for 20% equity. When they countered for 10% plus 2.5% advisory shares, Robert declined and went out.
Lori Greiner liked the idea but thought it wasn’t ready to be on the market yet, so she went out, too.
With all of the sharks out, Ranjith and Akshita left
Shark Tank Inirv Update
Our Inirv update has some interesting developments. Since airing, the company received a significant media boost, which brought interest and feedback.
However, in 2018, a dispute arose with their prototype manufacturer, leading to a lawsuit and countersuit. However, they settled eventually.
The COVID-19 pandemic further delayed their plans, but the team used this time to improve their logistics.
By 2021, they rebranded as Ome and secured $3 million in additional funding by early 2022.
Ome’s smart stove knobs are remote-controlled via app or voice with Alexa and are now a reality.
In March 2024, they launched the second-generation product with enhanced features and more color options at a major industry show.
At the time of our Inirv update, products retail for $399 for a four-pack and are available on their website, which includes a compatibility checker.
Ome is expanding into the AgeTech industry, developing solutions for senior living communities with their platform, Amity, for remote stove management.
They are also venturing into BBQ with an automatic shut-off knob for outdoor grills and seeking partnerships with appliance manufacturers.
Ranjith and Akshita have received numerous awards, including being named one of Exeleon Magazine’s Top 100 Dynamic Leaders.
Their estimated lifetime revenue is currently around $6.1 million.
It’ll be interesting to see what the future holds for both entrepreneurs in our next Inirv update.
